Riverfront Dr.Mankato, MN 56001(507) 388-2202 Mary Genevieve (Gen) Mocol, age 92 of Mankato, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Mankato. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato with Rev. Andy Olsem officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Friday with a 6:45 p.m. prayer service at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to: School Sisters of Notre Dame or Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato or the donor’s choice. Gen was born April 13, 1924 to Christian and Matilda (Henkels) Lohse in Heron Lake, Jackson County, Minnesota. She attended a one room country school house in Jackson County and later graduated from Heron Lake High School in 1941. Gen graduated from Mankato Commercial College. On June 17, 1947, she was united in marriage to Herbert Mocol at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato. She was actively involved working in the family business. A majority of her life was spent raising her 11 children and being grandmother and great-grandmother to 19 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Gen is survived by her 11 children, Joseph (Darlene) Mocol of Mankato, Diane (Jeffrey) Higgins of West St. Paul, Stephen (Kimberly) Mocol of Burnsville, David Mocol of Eagan, Kathryn Mocol of Mankato, Thomas Mocol of Mankato, Gregory Mocol of Mankato, George Mocol of Mankato, Jean (John) Henning of Fargo, ND, James (Kristin) Mocol of Waconia, Christopher (Angela) Mocol of Eagan; 19 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty (Paul) Olsem of Fulda, MN, Frances Wolitzski of Washington, D.C., Lorraine Witzel of Fulda;  sister-in-law, Agnes Lohse of Heron Lake;  nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert in 2005; her parents; her sister, Agnes (Bill) Medvec; her brother, Bill Lohse; brothers-in-law, Joseph (Mary) Mocol, Joseph Wolitzski and Ralph Witzel.
