Jacob G. Strobel

Jacob Gregory Strobel, 28, of Pemberton, MN, passed away at his family farm on October 10th, 2016. Jacob was born March 20, 1988, at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato, MN, to Greg and Robin (Fernholz) Strobel. He was the firstborn of four boys.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 14, 2016 at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato. Visitation will take place from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Mankato Mortuary, 1001 N Riverfront Dr. in Mankato and one hour prior to the service at the church. Jacob will be laid to rest at Barnard Valley View Cemetery.  

Jacob recently had the great accomplishment of graduating from Law School at Drake University, Des Moines, IA. He was a proud Iowa State fan and enjoyed following Minnesota sports. In his free time he was passionate about showing pigs with his brothers and being at the fairs with his family. He loved spending time with family and friends at the lake, and playing golf. He was a very avid reader and loved to watch science fiction and comedy movies. Jacob really enjoyed coaching and playing basketball and volunteered for many years as a 4-H counselor and ambassador, and was a positive influence in many young people’s lives. In spite of his busy life, he could always be counted on to help his family on the farm no matter what needed to be done.

Jacob graduated from St. Clair High School in 2006, and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Marketing at Iowa State in 2010, before earning his law degree at Drake specializing in Ag Law. He was a talented athlete and academic, and had the distinction of being published in the Drake Journal of Agricultural Law. Recently, he had accepted a position with the Wells-Fargo Legal Department in Des Moines, IA.

Jacob is survived by and will be sadly missed by his loving parents, Greg and Robin; brothers, Ryan (Sarah), Kenny and Matthew; grandparents, Claire and Jan Strobel, Mapleton, MN and John Fernholz, Montrose, MN; aunts and uncles, Mike (Shelly) Strobel, Susan (Todd) Schneider, Lisa (Roger) Gleisner, Randy (Michelle) Strobel, Amy (Todd) Brandemuehl, Karen (Ian) Brown, John Fernholz, Tony Hanson, Michelle (Eric) Brown, Carrie (Corey) Smith; cousins, Andy (Jen) Strobel, Jenny (Ryan) Henrickson, Kristin Strobel, Chelsea, Mitchell, Caitlyn and Mac Schneider, Nick, Trevor and Gunnar Gleisner, Nathan and Adam Strobel, David, Lexie and Christopher Brandemuehl, Tyler and Elizabeth Brown, Alicen Hanson, Claudia Fernholz, Lilly Brown, Makayla, Calissa Plocharski, Alyssa Smith, and many, many friends.

Jacob was known for his great sense of humor and his amazing smile and his infectious laugh. His life touched so many people in so many ways and he will be missed dearly by all.
