Kristin Marie (Matson) Wilson, age 57, died at her home on Wednesday, October 5, 2016.

Kristin was born May 8, 1959, to Gale “Matt” and Mary Ann (Cart) Matson in Minneapolis, MN, the third of five children. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and educated in the Minneapolis school system. She graduated from Washburn High School and attended college. After her marriage she lived in Vermont, New York, Colorado and Missouri before returning to Minnesota, and has lived in Mankato for 16 years. She finished her Bachelor’s degree at MSU Mankato and received her Master’s Degree in Special Education. She was currently employed at Madelia High School. Kristin loved her work caring for disabled adults and special education students. Her greatest joy was raising her daughters, who have always been her first priority.

Kristin is survived by her three daughters, Kelly, Nicole (Skyler Hutchens), Mackensie (Matt Bagan); grandsons, Cuther, Emmett, and Julian Gale; granddaughter, Madeline; mother, Mary Ann Matson; sister, Karen (Ken) Abdo; brothers, Dr. Paul (Jodi) Matson, Dr. Tom (Jennifer) Matson, and Tim (Louise) Matson; 12 nieces and nephews and three great nieces. Her father, Gale “Matt” Matson preceded her in death 12 years ago.

Family and friends honor and celebrate Kristin’s life and cherish the memory of her love, devotion and care for her family, friends, students and group home residents. We will miss her sense of humor and the joy of having her in our lives. She left us too soon.

Celebration of Kristin’s life will be 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato, MN 56003. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorial church service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2016, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4100 Lyndale Ave. South, Minneapolis, MN 55409. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church on Friday. A reception will follow the service.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Madelia School District.
