Karen Waterston

Karen Waterston, 68, of Mankato, died Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 10 at 6:00 p.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary.  Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Northview.  Private family burial will be at the New Ulm City Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to BENCHS. 

Karen was born on January 24, 1948 in Norfolk, VA to George and Evelyn (Trautfether) Hartwell.  She graduated from Mankato High in 1966 and from Mankato State College in 1970.  On January 25, 1979, Karen was united in marriage to Bruce Waterston.  Karen was proud to work in many of Mankato’s finest restaurants over the years.  Karen loved literature, Scrabble, and local music.  She passed on her incredible love for animals to her family. 

Karen is survived by two daughters, Leslie (Jonathon) Steen and Emily (Patrick) Heinis; two grandchildren, Olivia Nadine and Nathan Patrick Heinis; siblings, Steve (Pam) Hartwell, Kathy (Michael) Quinn, and Mary (John) Beerling; sister-in-law, Lexy (Bob) Wood; aunt and uncle, Harold (Midge) Hartwell; nieces; nephews; many friends; and her cat, Benny.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
