Earl LeRoy Lamont

Ushered unto the LORD September 30, 2016. Born April 19, 1931 to Roy E. and Erma (Haslip) Lamont. After his esophageal and liver cancer diagnoses, he went into hospice. As his family said goodbye, he requested private burial at Elysian’s Cedar Hill Cemetery. North Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family.
 
His legacies to his family, cousins, and friends are these: Live honestly, work hard, support American values, love family, care for all people and animals and the environment!
 
Chronological important events in his life were these:
 
Drafted, 1954: Served in Armed Forces Radio, Panama – auditioned and chosen to narrate Balboa and Cristobel High School choir and band’s Christmas program; recording aired on KYSM Radio, 1955.
 
1956-1957: Returned to work at KYSM and graduated with Biology Degree.
 
1960: Auditioned and hired for new KEYC-TV station; chose format for old-time-band program, BANDWAGON, hosted it for 7 years.
 
1966: Recruited to Mankato State College – Television Specialist for Educational Resource Center – filming and videoing.
 
Important events in Earl’s life after marriage to Sally Krueger were these marriages and births: son, Bryan (Becky); granddaughter, Rhiannon (Nathan); grandson, Scott (Stephanie); and great-granddaughter, Quinn. He was predeceased by his parents; in-laws; and twin granddaughters.
