Jessica “Jessi” Guggenberger, 37 of Mankato, died Monday, September 26 at her home.
Memorial service will be held at 3pm, Saturday, October 1 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church (720 South 2nd Street, Mankato, MN 56001) with visitation starting at 1pm. Jessica was born November 22, 1978 in St. Cloud to Tom and Linda (Pirkl) Guggenberger. She graduated from St. Cloud Tech High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead. From an early age, Jessi excelled in sports and was a year-round athlete, including soccer, basketball, softball, and cross country skiing. Jessi met the love of her life, Jill Norman, while playing softball. On August 26, 2014, Jessi was united in marriage to Jill, in the backyard of their home. Jessi and Jill shared many hobbies and interests, including fishing, spending time outdoors, flower and vegetable gardening, photography, making stain glassed art, scuba diving, riding ATV's and motorcycles, and traveling. She was currently a K-12 art teacher at Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial Schools and loved her students. Jessi was always more than willing to help anyone in need. Described as energetic, happy, caring, loving, and selfless, Jessi’s infectious laughter will be missed by many.
She is survived by her wife, Jill Norman of Mankato; parents, Linda and Tom Guggenberger of St. Cloud; brother, Lee (Jessica) Guggenberger of Sauk Rapids and their children Ella and Aiden; maternal grandmother, Regina Pirkl of St. Joseph; aunts and uncles, Angie Nelson, Bob Guggenberger, Pat Guggenberger, Dan Guggenberger, Mary Jo Guggenberger, Carl (Terri) Guggenberger, Mary Kay (Urban) Warnert, Gary (Dorene) Pirkl, Bob Pirkl, and many cousins. Jessica is also survived by Jill's family, including her father, Doug Norman of Montevideo; brother, Jim (Onesta) Norman and their children Jimmy, Andy, Shakara, Hamidah and Taheerah; sister, Pam (Randy) Westman and their son, Hunter; 3 great-nieces and 2 great-nephews.
Jessica is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Claude and Clara Guggenberger; maternal grandfather, Bob Pirkl; mother-in-law, Margaret Norman; and uncles, Charlie Nelson, Gary Oleson, Roger Petron, and Ervin Guggenberger.
