Edward Alan Brown, 63 of Garden City, died Saturday, September 24, 2016 at his home after a brief battle with esophageal cancer.

 

Memorial service will be held at 11am, Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary (2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato, MN 56003) with visitation one hour prior. Reverend Steve Kosberg will officiate. Everyone is encouraged to wear jeans and a t-shirt to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

 

Edward was born September 20, 1953 in Mankato to Vernon and Teresa (Bohnert) Brown. He graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1971 and studied Culinary Arts at South Central Technical College. He married Deb Bode in July 1975. They were blessed with three daughters, Angie, Emily, and Sarah, and later divorced. On March 7, 1998, he married Cathy Jones.

 

Ed was a man of many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed camping, cooking, listening to classic country music, and getting together with family and friends. But most of all, he loved being a grandpa. He was currently working as a material handler at MTU Onsite Energy. Ed’s sense of humor, friendly personality, and genuine smile will be missed by many.

 

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Brown of Garden City; children, Angie (Adam) Lindeman and their children, Sawyer, Maguire, and Dylan of Glencoe, Emily Brown and her daughter Keeley of Courtland, Sarah (Nick) Forbrook and their children Cason and Kade of Courtland, Steph (Kevin) Miller of Mankato and their children Brittany, Wyatt, and Jarrett, and Jason (Andrea) Jones and their children Mackenzie, Landon, Kellan, and Courtney of Andover; great-grandson, Carter; siblings, Ron Brown of Nora Springs, IA, Steve (Loree) Brown of Lake Crystal, Nick (Monika) Brown of Angora, Barb (significant other, Barry Schnitzer) Hinrichs of St. Clair, Dennis Brown of Lake Crystal, Doug (Beth) Brown of St. Paul, Tom (Jody) Brown of Montgomery; sisters-in-law, Marsha Heinze of Mankato and Jan Hendrycks of Lake Crystal; brother-in-law, Doug (Leanne) Scott of Lake Crystal; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

 

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Irene Wenner.
