Samuel Zachary Wright 26, of Mankato, MN, passed away on September 13, 2016. Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on September 23, 2016, at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato, MN. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Interment will occur at Minneopa Cemetery. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Samuel was born on October 20, 1989, in Owatonna, MN to Michelle (Cory) Wright and Rolland James Wright. Most of his childhood years were spent in Mankato and Vernon Center. As an adult he made his home in Mankato. He graduated in 2010 from Mankato East. After graduation he was employed by MRCI where he worked at Country Inn and Suites. He was a dedicated employee who always strived to do his best.
The Green Bay Packers lost a diehard fan in Sam. One of his most exciting times was going to Lambeau field. Most days, he had some form of Packer clothing on to honor his favorite team. Many tried to get him to come over to the “purple side” but he stayed steadfast in his Green Bay team. He was an avid football card collector, he enjoyed playing football and running track with the LEEP organization.
When God created Sam he created a loving soul with an infectious smile, caring heart and desires to strive to be his best. If you were lucky enough to call Sam your friend or family, you knew you were loved. Left to cherish his memory includes Mother Michelle (Cory) Steinbach of Sleepy Eye; Father Rolland Wright and wife Mona of Mankato; Grandmother Barbara Cory. Siblings include Michael Wright of Killen, Texas, Tyler (Natasha) Wright of Fairmont, Kristina Wright of Sleepy Eye and Adam Wright of rural Mankato and Hunter Steinbach of Parachute Colorado. Step Siblings include Josh Sundberg, Carl Sundberg, Tiffany Brundieck and Richard Griebel. He will be missed by friends from Haughbeck, LEEP, MRCI and his many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Samuel is preceded in death by maternal grandfather Ray Cory, paternal grandparents Alice and Wayland “Boots” Wright.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to LEEP sports scholarships.
