Walter Joseph Haley, 85 of Mankato, died Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Laurels Peak Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral Mass will be 11am, Monday, September 19, 2016 at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Madison Lake. Walter Joseph Haley was born January 3, 1931 in Mankato to Dennis and Dorothy (Kopp) Haley. Wally joined the United States Army on January 8, 1953 and was honorably discharged on December 10, 1954. On August 31, 1957, he was united in marriage to Sandra Roemer and they were blessed with four children. Walter was hardworking and was passionate about his career. For over 40 years, he worked in construction for Lundin/SMC until his retirement. Walter grew up in Cleveland, Minnesota, lived most of his life in Madison Lake and spent his most recent years in Mankato. Walter’s greatest joy was when his children and grandchildren were all home to visit.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Sandra Haley of Mankato; children, Kathryn (Dennis) Tanley of Mankato, Gary (Kim) Haley of Canfield, OH, Joseph (Rebecca) Haley of Mankato, and Alan (Liz) Haley of Hayward, CA; grandchildren, Taylor, Mitchel, Ashley, Heather, Thomas, Anthony, and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Rylynn and Daniel; and brother, Dennis (Carol) Haley.
