Linda Lou Hruska, 71 of Rapidan and owner of the Rapidan Dam Store, died Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Autumn Grace Assisted Living in Mankato.
Funeral service will be held at 11am, Saturday, September 17 at Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary (2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato, MN 56003) with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Rapidan. A celebration of Linda’s life will continue at the park and pavilion across the street of the Rapidan Dam Store.
Linda was born July 14, 1945 in Fort Dodge, IA to Constantine and Hulda (Ebert) Leonhardt. She was united in marriage to James Hruska on June 1, 1968 in Iowa. In April 1972, they relocated to Minnesota and purchased the Rapidan Dam Store, which has been family owned and operated for over 44 years. Open April Fool’s Day through Halloween, many people in the area enjoyed their hamburgers, malts, and famous pies.
In her spare time, Linda enjoyed bowling, bible studies, playing cards and cribbage, fishing, crossword puzzles, and spending time with family. During the off-season at the store, they enjoyed family getaways to Georgia, Missouri, and Arizona.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Hruska of Rapidan; daughter, Jenny (Marc) Barnes of Rapidan; son, David Hruska of Rapidan; sisters-in-law, Kathy Devens and Sue Leonhardt; nieces and nephews, Mike Devens, Shannon (Grady) Whittet, Lisa Leonhardt, Mandy (Justin) Greene, Kari (Gabe) Calderon, KC (Lisa) Rankin, and Georgeann Rankin; and special family friends, William Ball and Joe Kelsey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Larry Leonhardt; sister, Betty (Robert “Red”) Rankin; niece, Becky Rankin; father-in-law, Frank Hruska; and mother-in-law, Genevieve Thatcher.
