Dorothy Ann Tresemer

Dorothy Tresemer, 99, of Lake Crystal, passed away on September 5, 2016.

Dorothy Ann (McCall) Tresemer was born on January 5, 1917 to Thomas Dennis and Theresa Ann (Koll) McCall at Mankato, Minnesota.  She grew up on the family farm with her siblings: Helen (Kopp), Agnes (Dale), Thomas, and Richard McCall.  She attended SS. Peter and Paul’s Catholic School through 8th grade, Mankato Normal School through 9th grade, and Mankato High School until 10th grade.  Later, when she was 80 years old, she earned her GED at Lincoln Alternative School.

On July 21, 1938, Dorothy married Edwin Tresemer at SS. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in Mankato.  Later, William Charles was born and joined stepson James Tresemer to make up their family.  Dorothy worked for Midtex Corporation, building switches for 14 years and helped Ed run their family business, Hilltop Rug Cleaners in Mankato.  Throughout her life, Dorothy enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing as well as big band and polka music and her pets, Maxie, Mickey, and Pepe.  She was especially fond of making Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls and baking various treats like her chocolate cakes.  Also, she enjoyed crosswords and puzzles.  Over the years, she and Ed enjoyed the outdoors in Crosby, Minnesota and winters in Texas.

For the last 3 years, Dorothy received excellent care from the nurses at Crystal Seasons in Lake Crystal, MN.  In July, she excitedly celebrated her 99 going on 100 birthday party where she was able to meet and talk to friends and family.  Unfortunately, Dorothy did not quite make her 100th birthday, dying exactly 4 months before her birthday.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Edwin, son William, stepson James and his wife Kathy as well as her parents Thomas Dennis and Theresa McCall, and her siblings and their spouses: Helen (McCall) and Ambrose Kopp, Agnes (McCall) and Garnett Dale, Thomas F. and Georgia McCall, and Richard McCall.  She is survived by many nieces and nephews as well as many great nieces and nephews who will miss her family stories and sweet smile.

A funeral service for Dorothy will take place Friday, September 9 at 11 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake, with visitation one hour prior. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato.
