Derrick Davis

Derrick Steven Davis, age 23, of Mankato, died Monday, September 5, 2016, due to an automobile accident in Mankato.

A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 11, 2016, at Crossview Covenant Church in North Mankato.  Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Saturday at the church, and continues one hour prior to the service on Sunday.  Mankato Mortuary handled the arrangements.

From the moment we heard Dr. Kutcher say “It’s a boy” our hearts were full, we knew our family was complete.  Derrick was born on October 30, 1992 to Bradley and Constance Davis. Our third child, Derrick had two older sisters who loved their little brother so much. Alicia Adelle and Karissa Leigh now had a little brother who became their “live” doll when they played. Derrick was loved with all our hearts, our family was complete.

Derrick loved all activities and adventures outdoors. When he had friends over, they would head out into the woods, ravines and fields that surround our home. An endless supply of toys grew as Derrick grew up. From climbing trees to building “The Shack” Derrick made our family complete, we love Derrick with all our hearts. When he wasn’t on an adventure outdoors, he could be found on the ice playing hockey or the soccer field. He loved the games, but deep down he loved the fellowship of the teammates. Derrick was an easy going, kind, generous friend, always with a smile. Throughout all the seasons of sports Derrick built great friendships.

Sensitive and caring were qualities that drove Derrick. He felt a deep passion to help others. Along with that passion to help others Derrick successfully achieved his goal of becoming a Financial Advisor. He always stopped to help those in need, reaching into his pocket to give what he had. We ask as you remember Derrick Davis, “Double D” that you would reach into your pocket and give to those in need. Two area charities that Derrick felt drawn to are Partners for Affordable Housing and The Reach. Consider giving a gift to honor Derrick Davis. Derrick is survived by his parents, Brad and Connie Davis; sisters, Alicia McCabe (Nick McCabe) and Karissa Davis (Mark Zrust); nieces, Hailey and Emmalee McCabe; grandmother, Donna Morris; many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elmer and Delma Grothe and Ray Morris.
