Robert was born January 11, 1929 in Mankato to Frank and Beatrice (Hainka) Jaeger. After finishing the tenth grade, Bob returned home to help his family on the farm. He held various jobs before settling down and becoming a fulltime farmer. He was united in marriage to Shirley McGregor on March 21, 1951 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton during the middle of a snowstorm.
Described as generous, hardworking, one-of-a-kind, and very competitive in all the sports he played, Bob absolutely loved farming and hated to sit around. In his earlier years, he and Shirley enjoyed dancing, bowling, playing cards with neighbors, snowmobiling, planning summer fishing trips, and traveling to various places, including Alaska and Hawaii. He was a softball pitcher until he was 60 years old and also loved playing pool with his boys. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He’ll be forever missed.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Jaeger of 65 wonderful years of marriage; children, Greg Jaeger of Mankato, Christy (Dennis) Ebeling of Owatonna, Randy Jaeger of Easton, Todd (Lisa) Jaeger of Mapleton, Terry (Julie) Jaeger of Minnesota Lake, Quint (Tami) Jaeger of Mapleton; grandchildren, Lonny, Jessica, Mara, Kira, Chris, Hailey, Courtney, Mitchell, and Kelsey; many great-grandchildren; 1 brother and 3 sisters-in-law.
