Phyllis Mae Hansen, age 84, of Garden City, died Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System – Mankato.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church, Lake Crystal. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church on Saturday. Family interment will be in Garden City Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church or the donor’s choice.

Phyllis was born November 1, 1931 to Robert and Ruth (Griffiths) Hewitt at home in rural Lake Crystal. She graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1949 and attended Mankato Commercial College. She was married to Gerald Salfer and they later divorced. Phyllis married Earl A. Hansen on October 6, 1976 in Mankato. Phyllis was employed as a bank teller at various banks in the area and the Lake Crystal Health Care Center. She was employed as a seamstress for Brett’s Department Store, Lynn’s Tailor Shop, and 17 years for Graf Clothing before retiring. Phyllis was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Crystal where she had served as a past deacon, and the Garden City Garden Club. She enjoyed reading and her cats.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Earl; three children, Julie (Tim) Noonan of Seattle, WA, Todd Salfer of Garden City, and Jodi (Todd) Tischer of St. Cloud; 6 grandchildren, Kate (Matt Marek) Tischer, Taylor Tischer and fiancé, Andre Summey, Javlyn Tischer and fiancé, Levi Lindeman, Samantha Tischer, Tanner Tischer, and Jillian Tischer; 3 great-grandchildren, Carter, Caleb, and Londyn Marek; six siblings, Mary Swanson of Richfield, John (Georgiana) Hewitt of Litchfield, Georgine Hansen of Medford, OR, Roberta (James) Blumenberg of Port Washington, WI, Richard Hewitt of Kasson, and Edwin (Sarah) Hewitt of Mankato; extended family, Keisuke (Kahori) Matsumoto, their sons, Daiwa and Naoki; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Maynard Hewitt; sister, Marvel Fedro; and extended family.
