Gladys M. Thul

Gladys May Thul, 86, of North Mankato, MN was called home to our heavenly father on July 20, 2016.

Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 25, 2016 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. She will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato.

Born to Betsy and John Gleason of North Dakota, she grew up alongside six sisters and one brother. She married Eugene Thul on February 10, 1950, and together raised eleven children.

Besides cooking, cleaning, and lots of laundry, Gladys truly had a tender heart filled with patience, compassion, and kindness for others unable to care for themselves. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Divine Providence, School Sisters of Notre Dame, Hillcrest Health Center, Oaklawn, as well as a personal home health caregiver for others in need of care.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John “Buddy” Gleason; her husband, Eugene; son, James; and granddaughter, Kari.

Surviving family include sisters, Elvina Michelson, Betty Sweere, Ruth Gullicks, Donna Cole, Darlene Saxerud, and Marjorie Gylten; her children, Arlene Glaser, Michael Thul, Patricia Thul, Jerome (Sherry) Thul, Barbara (Michael) Caven, Joyce Thul, Mary Curtis, Thomas (Desiree) Thul, Rita (Terry) Hiniker, and, Joleen Winch; 29 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sisters-in-law, Arils Thul, Elaine Thul, and Judy Thul.
