Jeanne M. (Chamberlain) Traxler, age 77, of rural Elysian, died peacefully, Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 8, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Marysburg. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Thursday with a 3:30 p.m. rosary service at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato. Visitation will continue one hour before service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Marysburg Catholic Cemetery.
Jeanne Marie was the 1st born to Paul W. and Bernice (Hollinger) Chamberlain on October 19, 1938, in rural Waterville, MN. She attended country school; Waterville elementary, SS Peter and Paul School, Mankato MN and graduated from Loyola High School in Mankato, MN. She attended the College of St. Catherine, St. Paul and graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing, Minneapolis, MN in 1959.
Jeanne married Ronald R. Traxler on January 25th 1961, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato, MN. They lived in Le Center for 2 years before moving to rural Elysian where they raised six children.
Jeanne was a loving and caring nurse for 42 years at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato, MN. She worked all areas of the hospital and spent the last 20 years of her career managing the Same Day Surgery Unit before her retirement in February of 2001. She was a member of the MN Nurses Association and the Same Day Surgery Association; was active in her church at Immaculate Conception, Marysburg as well as a member of St. Margaret’s Circle, St. Bridget’s Circle, and the CCW. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, sewing, traveling, along with having lunch with her cousins, church group, and retired nurses. She especially treasured her grandchildren and family gatherings.
Jeanne is survived by two sons, Richard Traxler and wife, Sue of Platteville, WI, Jeffery Traxler and wife, Ann of Kenyon, MN; four daughters, Colleen Carlson and husband, Brad of Janesville, MN, Judi Baker and husband, Marty of Elysian, MN, Cindy Ayers of Waterville MN, and Kristin Greenwald and husband, Ron of Waterville; 18 grandchildren, Kate, Nicole, Alex Traxler, Jacob (Tara) Traxler, Caleb, Levi, and Quinn Traxler, Donald, Ted, and Sam Carlson, Bennet and Andrew Baker, Brady, Colin, and Reid Ayers, Ethan, Aiden, and Jaelyn Greenwald; two brothers and their wives; Robert and Myrna Chamberlain of Aberdeen, SD, Gary and Mary Chamberlain of Mankato MN; sister-in-law, Mary Chamberlain of Mankato, MN; brother-in-law, Gordy Traxler and wife, Charolette of LeCenter; along with 4 nephews and 4 nieces; and extended family.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald on October 11, 2012; and brother, Gordon Chamberlain on March 8, 2016.
