Linda was born November 5, 1943 and left us unexpectedly on June 27, 2016. We are deeply saddened by this loss, but rejoice in knowing she is with her Savior. We mourn not as those who have no hope for we know her soul is in heaven. Her faith in God defined her life. She lived for others and showed her love with words and acts of service. There was not a life she encountered that was not touched by her kindness and genuine care. She taught at Grace Christian School for many years and loved her students and loved teaching. Linda attended Grace Baptist Church and led a women’s Bible study in her home.
She was preceded in death by her father, Alfred Halsig and her mother, Irene Halsig. She left behind her husband, Otto Hoogendyk, with whom she just celebrated fifty years of marriage on June 10, 2016. She loved him with all her heart. She left a godly heritage to her children, Kitty (John) Miller, Irene (John) Fenlason, Jacob (Melissa) Hoogendyk, and Nancy Ramirez. Each one knew how proud she was of them. She adored her 16 grandchildren and made each of them feel special and cherished. She will also be missed by her sister, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, and many friends.
“Not a moment will pass that we will not miss you, but we will rejoice when we see you again. It is well with our souls.”
Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Mankato, MN.
In lieu of flowers, Bibles may be donated through The Gideons International.
