Michael Martin “Mike” Burger, age 67, of North Mankato, died Sunday, June 19, 2016, at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 24, 2016, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato, with Rev. Paul van de Crommert officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Thursday at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, with a 7 p.m. Rosary. Visitation continues one hour prior to the mass at the church on Friday.
Mike was born September 28, 1948, in Arlington to Martin and Brigid (Lynch) Burger. He was a 1966 graduate of Henderson High School. Following high school, Mike served in the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to Brenda Seesz on November 8, 1975, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Le Sueur. Mike received an Associate’s Degree from South Central Technical College in North Mankato.
Mike was employed for 30 years with Pepsi Cola, working as a truck mechanic and in the warehouse. He also worked part-time at Taylor Corp in general maintenance for 28 years. Mike was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and attending their activities. Mike also enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and camping.
Mike is survived by his wife, Brenda of North Mankato; three children, Jeremy (Andrea) Burger (and their children, Maxwell, Zach, and Whitney) of Mankato, Nick (Molly) Burger (and their children, Rylan, Keegan, and Brielle) of Mankato, and Bridget Carruth (and her children, Joseph “Joe” and Lyle) of Lake Crystal; seven siblings, Joanie (Dennis) Peka of Montgomery, AL, Marty (Char) Burger of Northfield, Jim Burger of Maple Grove, Janet Burger of Northfield, Mary Kay (TR) Wento of Ray, Jean Burger of South St. Paul, and Daniel Burger of Northfield; aunt, Shirley Lynch of Anoka; brother-in-law, Thomas “Tommy” Seesz of Dundas; also many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Richard; son-in-law, Luke Carruth; brother, Steve; sister, Mitzi; and a sister-in-law, Jeanne Seesz.
