Kathleen Elise Luiken, age 91, lifelong Lake Crystal area resident, died Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System – Mankato. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Grace Baptist Church, Mankato, with her son, Pastor Roger Luiken of Liberty Baptist Church, Fremont, Nebraska, officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Grace Baptist Mission Fund or Liberty Baptist Mission Fund (Fremont, NE). Kathleen was born January 16, 1925, at the home of her grandmother, Lillie Williams, in Lake Crystal to James and Verna (Williams) Goodburn. She attended District #67 country school and graduated from Madelia High School in 1942. She was united in marriage to Robert J. Luiken on March 5, 1944 at the Lincoln Baptist Church, rural Lake Crystal. Kathleen was an “Avon Lady” for 40 years from 1960-2000. She also did custodial work along with her family at the First Presbyterian Church, Lake Crystal Bank, as well as the Lake Crystal Post Office. They attended during their married lives Medo Baptist Church, Lake Crystal Baptist Church, New Ulm Baptist Church, and Grace Baptist Church, Mankato where she worked in Sunday School. Kathleen enjoyed reading and time with her family. Kathleen is survived by her husband of 72 years, Robert; three sons, Steve Luiken of Mankato, Everett (Elayne) Luiken of Nevis, MN, and Pastor Roger (Wanda) Luiken of Fremont, NE; nine grandchildren, Shannon (Ron) Wolke, Michelle Luiken Shelton, Ryan (Amber) Luiken, Stacey (Aaron) Will, Amy (Nathan) Myhra, David (Kim) Luiken, Debby (Matt) Repaskey, Daniel (Brittany) Luiken, and Emilea Luiken; twenty great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three brothers, Lawrence (Eva Lou) Goodburn of Madelia, David (Ardis) Goodburn of Madelia, and Donald (Marcella) Goodburn of North Mankato; sister-in-law, Lynne Goodburn of Mankato; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Gloria Luiken; and brother, Clarence Goodburn.
