John Frederick Goossen, age 67, of Mankato, died Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Mankato. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.

John was born to Harvey and Verona (Harder) Goossen on October 19, 1948, in Mountain Lake.  He was a graduate of Mountain Lake High School and attended Mankato State University.  He was employed with Winnebago Manufacturing in Blue Earth for many years.  John was a bass player for various local bands, and was voted into the Minnesota Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.  He enjoyed flying, music, and bike riding.  John had a good sense of humor and had a kind-hearted, gentle soul.

John is survived by his significant other of 38 years, Janeen Miller; sister, Marcia Goossen; nephew, Will (Cyerra) Uhrhammer; step-nieces and nephews, Nathan Uhrhammer, April (Keith) Scheidt, Annie (Wade) Dearmond, and Geoffrey (partner, Matt) Barrett; and also many other cousins and loving family members. 

John was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary (Bob) Barrett; and also various aunts and uncles.
