Violet Peck Johnson, age 86, of North Mankato, died Sunday, May 29, 2016, at Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center, Mankato.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Collette Broady Grund, officiating. Interment will be in Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church on Saturday. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Violet was born September 17th, 1929 in rural Rice County to Arthur and Esther (Zander) Hunt. She graduated from Northfield High School. In 1951, she married Merle “Bud” Peck, and had three children. They later divorced. After returning to college at Mankato State, she graduated with a degree in education. She taught school at Madelia Elementary for 28 years. Violet married Donovan Johnson in 1983. She was an avid fisherwoman, and creative crafter. Her greatest joy was her family and friends; attending so many of her grandchildren’s activities, and hosting family holidays and events.

Violet is survived by her three children, Mark (fiancé Karen) Peck of Ogilvie, Michelle (Jack) Streitz of Northfield, and Nancy (Tom) Sorenson of North Mankato; six grandchildren, Joshua Sorenson, Ashley (Michael) Mintos, Adam Sorenson, Breanna Peck, Chelsey (Ryan) Mabry, and Katie (Marc) Steffen; two cherished great-grandchildren, Graham Steffen and Lucy Mintos; one brother, Harlan (Mayme) Hunt of Iowa; and extended family.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
