LaVon E. “Bonnie” Krueger, age 85, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2016, with her husband of 66 years by her side.

Memorial service will be held Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Pastor Patrick Patterson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church on Sunday. Burial will be at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery in Pipestone. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society, Christ the King Lutheran Church Music Fund, or donor’s favorite charity. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Bonnie was born in rural Pipestone County on March 2, 1931, and attended high school in Redwood Falls. She moved to Morgan in 1953, where she and her husband were proprietors of the Morgan Bowling Center. In 1962, she and her family moved to Mankato, MN. She worked at the MSU Student Union as an Administrative Assistant and Women’s Bowling Coach until her retirement in 1993. She coached two teams to national collegiate championships and was a charter member of the Mankato Bowling Hall of Fame. She was a long-time member of Christ the King Lutheran Church.

The North Shore of Lake Superior, the American West, Spain, and fall color road trips were among her favorite travel destinations. Bonnie was known for her hospitality and good cooking and hosted many gatherings for extended family and friends. Favorite activities included camping, playing cards, and spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an expert game show home contestant, solving the Wheel of Fortune puzzles up to her final days.

Survived by: her husband, Donald “Dan” Krueger ; her children Daniel of Sandstone, MN, Michael of Hoyt Lakes, MN, and Jeffrey (Jackie Mattila) Krueger of Burnsville, MN; grandchildren Erin (Toni Frutos) Krueger, Matthew (Heather) Krueger; step-grandchildren Patricia (James) Paquette, Adam Puglisi; great-grandchildren Emily, Michael, Brennan, Tessa, Makenna, Jameson, and Dominik; and many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends, and former MSU students. Preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Hilda (Eggers) Conrad; sisters, Arlene Johnson, Elaine Conrad; and brother, Louis Conrad.

Bonnie’s family would like to thank Mayo Clinic Heath Systems, Mayo Clinic Hospice, and Laurel’s Peak Health Care Center for the outstanding care Bonnie received.
