Leslie Allan Mutch

Leslie Allan Mutch, 80, of Mankato died Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Ecumen Pathstone Living.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, June 3, 2016 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato. Visitation will take place from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary in North Mankato and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Mankato.

Les was born December 3, 1935 to William and Jessie (Hislop) Mutch in Mankato. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1953 and continued his education at Mankato Vocational School to be trained as a construction steamfitter. On April 10, 1956 he married Lavon Leesch at First Congregational Church in Mankato. Together they raised two children, Pamela and Mark.

Les worked many years as a steamfitter around the Mankato area. However, his true passion was farming. In 1965, he and Lavon bought a farm south of Mapleton. They farmed there until his retirement in 1998 and moved back to Mankato.  In his free time, Les enjoyed curling, walleye fishing, playing cards, golfing, jigsaw puzzles, family camping trips around the country, and spending time with his family. Les was a faithful, caring, and diligent man who will be greatly missed by many and fondly remembered.

Les is survived by his wife, Lavon of 60 years; son, Mark Mutch; grandchildren, John (Mindy) Saxton and Laura Saxton; great-grandson, Eli Saxton; sister, Kathryn Thorson; son-in-law, Wayne Smith; and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pamela Saxton in 2015; one sister; and three brothers.

The family prefers memorials be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Mankato.
