Everalde Jean Ward

Everalde Jean Ward, age 93, of Mapleton, died Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Health System – Mankato.

Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Medo Baptist Church in rural Mapleton, with Pastor Darwin Sorenson officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will follow at Beauford Cemetery.  Olson-Tichenor Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Everalde, or “Jean” as she was known, was born September 9, 1922, in Mapleton.  She was the daughter of Emil and Marie (Rue) Samuelson.  Jean was a graduate of Mapleton High School.  Following high school, she was employed for a short while with Kunz Turkey Hatchery, Swift & Company, and also the local grocery store now known as Dietz Foods, both in Mapleton.

Jean was united in marriage to John Ward on November 28, 1952.  She became a homemaker for her family.  Jean was a member of Medo Baptist Church.  She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cooking, canning, making jelly, and spending time with her family.

Jean is survived by her son, Lowell (Dona) Ward of Rock Falls, IL; four grandchildren, Alyx, Michaela, Brandon (Vanessa), and Nicole Ward; great-grandson, Elijah; step-great-granddaughter, Aida; one brother, Glen (Alberta) Samuelson of Mapleton; also nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John in 1991; and a sister, Rolane Nelson.
