Imogene Florence Williams, age 94, of Mankato, died on April 20, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April, 23, 2016, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, with Rev. Richard Yevchak officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the mass at church on Saturday.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato.  Memorials are preferred to the School Sisters of Notre Dame or the donor’s choice.  Mankato Mortuary handled the arrangements. 

Imogene was born October 23, 1921, in Sioux City, IA, to Bernard and Florence (Fuchs) Bindner.  She attended Cathedral Catholic School in Sioux City, and graduated from Washington High School in Portland, OR.  Imogene worked behind the fountain at Green Gables Cafe in Sioux City.  During WWII, she worked in the defense plant in South Carolina.  She belonged to the U.S.O. and danced with the soldiers at the air base in South Carolina. 

Imogene moved to Mankato in November of 1945 and attended Mankato Commercial College in 1948.  She went to work in the Social Services Department in Saint Peter upon graduation.  She advanced to Clerk Typist II and worked for the MN Highway Department.  On June 28, 1968, she was united in marriage to Robert G. Williams at SS. Peter and Paul.  Imogene enjoyed dancing and belonged to the Summit Stompers for a number of years. She also enjoyed reading, watching T.V., and being with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. 

Imogene is survived by two sons, Jerry (Vee) Williams of Mankato and Jim (Karol) Williams of Aurora, IL; two daughters, Carol (Pat) Berndt-Egan of Zumbro Falls and Mary Williams-Sharp of Knoxville, TN; 10 grandchildren, Joshua (Melissa) Williams, Jeffrey (Mindy) Williams, Dr. Paul Williams, Peter Williams, Kristin Williams, Katie (Jon) Schwartz, Lisa (Gale) Smith, Michael (Jodi) Berndt, Ryan (Elise) Berndt, and Melissa (Anthony) Wagner; 11 great-grandchildren, Elayna, Eli, and Adley Williams, Madden Schwartz, Katelyn Smith, Ethan, Anthony, Emily, and Andrew Berndt, and Cade and Owen Wagner; and sister-in-law, Peg Bindner of North Mankato; also nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert in 2000; four brothers, Ralph (Betty) Bindner, Carl Bindner, Jim (Peggy) Bindner, and Robert Bindner. 

Imogene’s family would like to thank Pathstone Living and Mayo Clinic Health System-Mankato Palliative Care for taking such wonderful care of her.
