Steve Duane Walters, age 70, of Lake Crystal, died Monday, April 18, 2016 at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 22, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church, Lake Crystal with Rev. Randal Lubbers, officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m., Thursday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church on Friday. Private family interment will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church or the Lake Crystal Area Ambulance.
Steve was born January 21, 1946 to Vern and Audrey S. (Jones) Walters in Mankato. Steve was raised on the family farm and enjoyed helping his father and his brothers with farming. He enjoyed traveling with Jerry Kopischke transporting hogs, morning coffee time at the Collis C Store, and visiting with people of Lake Crystal. Steve loved his “little house” on Main Street in Lake Crystal and looked forward to people gathering for the summer parade on his lawn. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Steve enjoyed spending time with family and his faithful companion, his dog, Ernie.
Steve is survived by his two brothers, Larry (Sara) Walters of Lake Crystal and Dennis (Nancy) Walters all of Lake Crystal; two sisters, Sharon Laingen of Trego, WI and Pat (Richard) Hanson of Ashville, NC; twelve nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles, Ellen Walters, Herb and Miriam Jones, Chuck Wiggins, VaLaine Larson; and many cousins.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Vern on April 15, 1997 and Audrey on February 2, 2003; brother-in-law, Dennis Laingen on February 29, 2016; and a niece, Tracy Hanson.
