Mae Elaine Johnson

Mae Elaine Johnson, age 83 of Nicollet, died Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Benedictine Living Community of St. Peter.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 22, 2016 at Scandian Grove Lutheran Church with Rev. Kay Rohloff officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m., Thursday at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation continues one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Memorials may be given to your local pet shelter.

Mae E. Johnson was born October 27, 1932 to Chester Louis and Maudie Mildred (Smith) Johnson in Belgrade Township, Nicollet County, Minnesota. She graduated from Nicollet High School in 1950. She was united in marriage to Arnold Victor Johnson on December 8, 1951. They lived in Belgrade Township. From 1957 until 1959 they lived in West Concord before moving back to New Sweden and began operating the family dairy farm. All three children Neal, Rita, and Alex graduated from Nicollet High School. In the later years she work at McDonalds in Mankato. Mae was member of Scandian Grove Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, family vacations, and especially her family and great grandchildren.

Mae is survived by two children Rita Gibbs of St. Peter and Alex Johnson of New Sweden; grandchildren, Jenny (Jon) Halvorson, Josie (Matt) Lust, Brad Gibbs, Nate and Jessie Johnson, Michael Johnson; great grandchildren, Daisy, Lilly, Henry, Jakob, Evan, Aurora; nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Arnold 2002; son, Neal 2012 and daughter-in-law, Mary 2006.
