Rebecca Jane Sandon, 98 of Mankato, died Friday, April 15, 2016 at Mapleton Community Home.
Memorial service will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at First Congregational United Church of Christ with Reverend Dana Mann officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service and a reception will follow at church. Memorials are preferred to the Daughters of the American Revolution, Anthony Wayne Chapter in Mankato or to your favorite charity. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Rebecca was born February 15, 1918 to Edward and Jerusha (Buck) Viall. She resided in the Northfield Odd Fellows Home in Northfield from age 4 until she graduated high school. On May 31, 1941, she was united with Thomas Donald Sandon. Rebecca was a dedicated wife and mother who enjoyed cooking and spending time with family. For many years, she worked at a tax preparation company during tax season. She was a very intelligent, loving, and wise person.
Survivors include her children, Donna Sandon of Courtland, Donald (Nadene) Sandon of Mankato, Donita (Ray) Cornelius of Rapidan, John Sandon of Mankato, and Susan (Dave) Denzel of Mankato; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Shirlee Bolger of California; and several nieces and nephews.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas in 1990; and siblings, P. Ray Viall, B. Ellen (Alfred) Rave, F. Bernice (Lyle) Thell, M. Lillian (Attle) Olsen, Robert Emmett Viall, and James Viall Rendall.
