Eugene Leroy Langworthy

Eugene Leroy Langworthy, 74, of Mapleton died Monday, April 11, 2016 at Mapleton Community Home.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2016 at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Mapleton. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Friday, April 15, 2016 at the church and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mapleton.

Gene was born October 25, 1941 to Edward and Mary (Denn) Langworthy in Sterling Township, MN. He graduated from Mapleton High School in 1959 and proudly served in the Army Reserve. Gene was blessed with 5 children.

Gene worked for UPS for 31 ½ years. He was a devoted member of St. Teresa Catholic Church in Mapleton. In his free time, Gene enjoyed restoring cars, modifying old tractors, bow hunting, bowling and watching wildlife from his kitchen patio. As a strong family man, his legacy is his children and grandchildren. Gene was “a quiet guy…but quite a guy”. He will be greatly missed.

Gene is survived by his children, Kelly (Ladd) Kreuer of Harrisonville, MO, Julie  Mollberg of Baudette, MN, Paul Langworthy of Good Thunder, MN, Brenda (Johnny) Becker of Sacramento, CA, and Richard Langworthy of Mapleton, MN; siblings, George (Cheryl) Langworthy, Jim (Gloria) Langworthy, Bernie (Dilly) Langworthy, Edward (Carla) Langworthy, Linda Hanson, Steve (Chris) Langworthy, Chuck Healy, and Darrell (Rhonda) Langworthy; mother, Mary Langworthy; 12 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his father, Edward; sisters, Joan and Theresa; brothers, Larry and Tom; and brother-in-law, Pete Hanson.

The family prefers memorial be given to St. Teresa Catholic Church or St. Jude’s.
