Stanley H. Bergemann, age 83 of rural Madelia, died Sunday, April 10, 2016 at his home.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 14, 2016 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Vernon Center with Rev. Monte Meyer officiating. Burial will be at Vernon Center Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4–7 p.m., Wednesday at Lake Crystal Mortuary. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or the donor’s choice.
Stanley was born April 5, 1933 to Theodor and Ellner (Schwarz) in Ceresco Township, Blue Earth County, Minnesota. He attended St. John Elementary School in Willow Creek and graduated from Garden City High School in 1951. Stanley was united in marriage to Betty Ann Tettam on October 4, 1952 at St. John Lutheran Church, Willow Creek. They began farming and raising their five children along Perch Creek in Ceresco Township. In 1956 Stanley was very proud to be named Young Farmer of the Year for Blue Earth County by Minnesota Farm Bureau.
Stanley was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Vernon Center. Stanley will be remembered for his family farm operation and his devotion to his wife and family. Stanley adored his 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He loved to travel with his wife. These trips included Germany and Norway to visit ancestral farms of the Bergemann and Tettam families. Stanley had many words of wisdom, and many stories he was more than willing to share with anyone who would listen.
Stanley is survived by his wife of 63 years Betty; five children, Terry (Lorie) Bergemann of Vernon Center, MN, Scott (Faith) Bergemann of Northfield, MN, Douglas (Susan) Bergemann of Apple Valley, MN, Debra (Frank) Santos of Tucson, AZ, Timothy (Sophy) Bergemann of Eagan; 12 grandchildren, Heather, John, Hope, Jacob, Holly, Kristen, Brian, Derek, Jessi, Allie, Annie, Allyson; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Arlene Brekke of Madelia, MN; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Luverne; granddaughter, Heidi; three great-grandchildren.
