Vivian Schubbe, age 85 of Mankato, died Monday, April 4, 2016 at Keystone Assisted Living in Mankato as a result of an aneurism.
The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with visitation at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Beauford United Methodist Church. Rev. Clint Firstbrook will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Mapleton. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Vivian was born November 17, 1930 to George and Rosetta (Peterson) Hislop on the family farm in Beauford, Minnesota. She graduated from Mapleton High School. Vivian was married to her high school sweetheart Gerry Pettit, who managed a local lumber company. They resided in Mapleton, Mankato and Bar Harbor. Gerry died in1983. Vivian was then married to a high school classmate, widower Burnell Schubbe in 1989. They had many happy years retired and enjoying their homes in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Florida. Burnell died in 2015.
Vivian worked as a bank teller at the First National Bank in Mapleton for many years. She was a member of Beauford United Methodist Church and longtime member of St. Armand’s Circle Church in Florida. Vivian loved to travel, golf, play cards, shopping and her family.
Vivian is survived by her sister-in-law, Audrey Hislop; nieces and nephews, Michael Germo, Francis Germo, Cheryl Nienow, Jan (George) Leary, Scott (Michelle) Hislop; four step-children, Phil Schubbe, Dr. Peter (Jackie) Schubbe, Drs. John and (Amy) Schubbe, Anne (Tom) Wegge; and other nieces and nephews, Denny Riley, Karen Riley Hartman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Gerry and Burnell; brothers, Dale and Harvey, and sister, Zella.
