Jerry M. Wegman, age 76, of Mankato, died unexpectedly Easter morning, March 27, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Health System – Mankato.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Saint John’s Episcopal Church, Mankato, Rev. Paul G. Rider, officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Saint John’s Episcopal Church or BENCHS.
Jerry was born November 7, 1939 to Orville “Dusty” and Rachel Elizabeth (Deibner) Wegman in Estherville, IA. He graduated from Estherville High School. Jerry was united in marriage to Rochelle A. Rehse on April 28, 1962 at Grace Episcopal Church in Estherville. Jerry was a salesman/sales manager for over 54 years with various livestock feed companies. Jerry and Rochelle lived in Estherville, Sioux Falls and Mitchell, SD, Owatonna, Alexandria, and finally Mankato. In retirement Jerry worked for Mankato Area Funeral Homes as a funeral assistant. Jerry was an active member of Saint John’s Episcopal Church serving as a Warden and the Men’s Group, which he helped organize. Jerry volunteered for BENCHS and the building committee for the new pet shelter. Jerry was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and a 30 year season ticket holder. He made many friends tailgating before the games. Jerry cherished spending time with his family, his dog, Jack, and his many friends. His death leaves a void in our hearts no one can fill.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rochelle; two sons, Rev. Jay Wegman (Stephen Facey) of New York City, NY; Steve (Dani) Wegman of Lake Crystal; his much beloved granddaughter, Blakely; sister, Suzanne Smith of Northfield; brother-in-law, Curtis Larson of Estherville, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patricia Larson.
