Mildred Marie “Millie” Weingartz, age 91, died unexpectedly on March 17, 2016, in Phoenix, AZ.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, March 29 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with Fr. Paul Van de Crommert officiating.  Visitation will be on Monday, March 28 from 4-7 p.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary with a 6:45 p.m. rosary.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.  Memorials are preferred to Holy Rosary Catholic Church or the donor’s choice.

Mildred was born on May 28, 1924 in Plankinton, S.D. to William and Mary (Smothers) Gardner.  She graduated from Garden City High School in 1942.  Millie also attended the Mankato Teacher’s College.  On June 28, 1945, Millie was united in marriage to Francis “Frank” Weingartz at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church.  Millie worked for Shari Candies and then worked over 25 years at Mankato State University in the Registrar’s Office.  She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Eagle’s Club Auxiliary, and VFW #950 Auxiliary.  Millie enjoyed playing bridge and bingo, knitting, scrapbooking, and family gatherings.  She loved traveling with Frank and spent the last 20 years wintering in Scottsdale, AZ. 

Millie is survived by three children, John (Cheryl) of North Mankato, Janet Chicos of North Mankato, and James (Janice) of Maplewood; seven grandchildren, John Weingartz Jr, Justin (Tiffani) Weingartz, Jared (Liz) Chicos, Michelle Chicos, Jason Chicos (Jenny), Connie Weingartz (Patrick Ahern), and Matt (April) Weingartz; nine great-grandchildren, Treven Bobby, Garrett and Henry Ahern, Alisia and Jacqueline Weingartz, Hudson and Mila Weingartz, Alyssia Navarro, and Juliana Chicos; sisters, Maryalice Weingartz and Marlene (Jerry) Patton; and sisters-in-law, Loretta (Allen) Sigafus and Patricia Gardner.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Frank, and brother, Bill.
