Dolorous B Kerr

Dolorous Bernice Kerr, 91, of Mankato passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Keystone Assisted living in Mankato.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church in Mankato with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.Burial will be at Soper Cemetery in Fairdale, ND.

A short memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, March 28, 2016 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fairdale, ND before the burial at 2:00 p.m. at the cemetery. 

Dolorous was born February 14, 1925 to Nels and Gunda (Frayrack) Clock in Hampden, ND.  She graduated from Hampden High School in 1943. On November 28, 1946 she married Donald Kerr in Minneapolis, MN. They moved to Crookston, MN for 20 years and settled in Mankato in 1965. Dolorous worked for Johnson Reel and in food service in Gage Towers at MSU for 20 years. She retired in 1990.

Dolorous was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Mankato and was very active in her church circle. She volunteered extensively, most recently at Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, baking, reading, walking, and traveling with her husband, Don. Dolorous was known as a giving and generous person who found family very important to her. She will be greatly missed.  

Dolorous is survived by her children, Patricia (John) Rezin of Rapid City, SD, Dianne (Barry) Golbom of Highland Park, IL, David (Judy) Kerr of Mankato, MN, and Lynette Johnson of Oronoco, MN; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Eunice Reeves and Jean Ivesdal; sister-in-law, Angeline Benn; and many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Don in 2000; 3 brothers; and 2 sisters.

The family prefers memorial be given to the Disabled American Veteran’s Foundation of Minnesota.
