William "Bill" Rollin Cutts, Sr.

William “Bill” Cutts, Sr., 94 of Mankato, died Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System – Mankato.

Visitation will be held from 5-7pm, Monday, March 21, 2016 at Mankato Mortuary (1001 N. Riverfront Drive, Mankato, MN 56001) and also one hour prior to the service at church. Memorial service will be 11am, Tuesday, March 22 at First Congregational United Church of Christ (150 Stadium Court, Mankato, MN 56001) with Reverend Dana Mann officiating. Military honors will follow the service. Burial will take place at a later date in Yankton, SD. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Boy Scouts of America, Twin Valley Council (810 Madison Avenue, Mankato, MN 56001) which will be given to Norseland Scout Camp near St. Peter.

Bill was born August 7, 1921 in Yankton, SD to William and Mabel (Coates) Cutts. He graduated from high school in Yankton and attended Iowa State University for two years. Bill was united in marriage to Kathryn Sisson on November 7, 1942 in Yuma, AR. He entered active service with the United States Navy on February 28, 1945 and was honorably discharged on April 17, 1946, as a Seaman, First Class.

He was analytical, smart, and an innovator, and worked at Honeymead in Mankato from 1960 until retiring as Vice President of Sales in 1983. In his spare time, Bill loved woodworking, golfing, traveling with his wife, studying his genealogy and writing a family history, and volunteering as Scout Master for Troop 17 for many years. Bill also provided guidance to troubled youth assigned to his care by the court system. Some of his proudest achievements included being the 1992 recipient of Sertoma Club Service To Mankind award and the Silver Beaver award, the highest award for a Boy Scout volunteer.

Survivors include his children, Cynthia (Larry) Babb of Sand Springs, OK, Sharon (Edward) Larson of Leesburg, FL, Bill (Savorn) Cutts, Jr of Mankato, MN, Kathy (Jay) Larsen of Brookings, SD, Jim Cutts of Tetiz, Mexico, and Randy (YuHong) Cutts of Goose Creek, SC;  15 grandchildren, Shawna Darwin, Shannon Northamer, David (Kathy)Northamer, Peggy Jo  ( Bryan) Van Zante, Jim (Sara) Northamer, Bill Northamer, Nicole (Doug) Tisue, Paul Babb, Rebecca (Trevor) Sammons, Christopher (Amy) Cutts, Sunney Cutts, Jennifer (Peter) Newburg, Kathryn (Jared) Vander Sanden,  Erin Cutts and Madison Cutts. 20 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Kathryn, his parents, two brothers and one sister.
