Harriet O’mine (Curry) Williams passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in Mankato. She was 94. Per her wishes, a private graveside service will be held. Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family.
Harriet was born November 28, 1921 in Denver, Colorado to Frances and Lewis Choate. Her parents later divorced and her mother married George D’Allemand Curry, who adopted Harriet at the age of 9.
On September 9, 1940, she was united in marriage to Matthias Williams. In 1961 they moved from Mankato to Kasota and resided there until 2013. Harriet retired from the St. Peter Regional Treatment Center in 1985 after 34 years. Her passion was art and she was an accomplished painter and weaver. She also loved to travel. She was a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and was very proud of her Choctaw heritage.
She is survived by 4 sons: Merlin (Alice) of Burlington KS, Maynard (Shirley) of North Mankato, Ronald (Beverly) of Marion IA, Matthias Bradley (Cheryl) of Garden City; and one daughter: Barbara Heller (Dale) of North Mankato. She is also survived by one sister, Helen Curry Johnson of Apple Valley; 16 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Matt, son Richard and 2 infant grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to all the caregivers at Hillcrest Healthcare Center and Mayo Clinic Hospital-Mankato for the care they provided Harriet in her final years.
