James E. “Jim” Hoffman, age 72 of Mankato, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center.

 Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake with Rev. Robert Schneider officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery Madison Lake, MN. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2016 at Northview~North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive North Mankato.  Visitation continues one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.

 James “Jim” Ernest Hoffman was born in Mankato, MN on August 12, 1943 to Lawrence and Fredora (Lilienkamp) Hoffman-Schultz. Jim graduated from Mankato High in 1962 and then graduated from Mankato Vo-Tech in Tool & Die.

 On June 29, 1963, he was united in marriage to Barbara Frederick. Jim and Barb made a life together in Mankato where they raised their three sons.

 For over twenty-five years, Jim worked as Regional Supervisor with Happy Chef Restaurants, where he enjoyed meeting with customers throughout the Midwest. He was also employed at Midwest Electric, 7UP Bottling Company, and Corporate Graphics. In retirement, Jim and Barb enjoyed winter retreats with their friends on South Padre Island, Texas.

 Jim loved hunting, fishing, traveling, playing cards, caring for his well-landscaped yard and rose garden, feeding his birds, and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his generosity, sarcastic wit, and work ethic.

 Jim is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barb; three sons, Tim Hoffman of Detroit Lakes, MN, Todd (Kay) Hoffman of Mankato, MN, and Terry (Beth) Hoffman of Austin, TX; four grandchildren, Kelsie Casperson, Kyle Hoffman, Aaron Hoffman, Bailey Hoffman; one great-grandson, Keoni Gomez; twin sister, Jean Blanck (Bob) of Mankato, MN; sisters, Janet Haugen of Mankato, MN, and Nancy Johnson (Lee Baringer) of North Mankato, MN; brother, Larry (Bonita) of Green Bay, WI; his mother-in-law, Valeria Frederick of Madison Lake, MN; brothers and sisters in law, Clem Frederick of Mankato, MN, Rosie (Darryl) Hoffman of Benson, MN, Linda Franke of Kansas City, MO, Larry (Barb) Frederick of Johnstown, CO, David Frederick of Madison Lake, MN, Virginia (Chuck) Flitter of Pemberton, MN, Nick (Linda) of North Mankato, MN, Andy (Marilyn) Frederick of St. Peter, MN, Mary Kay (Len) Carpenter of Eagle Lake, MN, Clete (Kim) Frederick, Eagle Lake, MN, Ralph (Nan) Frederick of Duluth, MN, Linnette (Pat) Anderson of Madison Lake, MN, Philip Frederick (Kathy Bouley) of Dayton, MN, Darlene (Jim) Dauk of Eagle Lake, MN, Caroline Frederick of North Mankato, MN; as well as numerous amazing nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Fredora Hoffman (Schultz); step-father, Paul Schultz; brother-in-law, Marley Haugen; father-in-law, Cletus Frederick; brothers-in-law, Daniel Frederick, Claver Frederick, and Willis Franke.
