Elaine M. Hood

Elaine Mae Hood, age 93, of Lake Crystal, died Friday, February 12, 2016 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Mankato Mortuary, 1001 N. Riverfront Drive, Mankato. Visitation will be one hour before service on Saturday. Interment will be in Cambria Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Pathstone Crossing or Mayo Clinic Health System, Hospice.

Elaine was born May 12, 1922 to Thomas E. and Margaret (Roberts) Thomas in Cambria Township, Blue Earth County, Minnesota. She attended country school and graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1941. She was united in marriage to Ralph Hood on June 1, 1949 in Lake Crystal. Elaine worked for the Lake Crystal National Bank as a teller for several years, but she was truly a homemaker caring for her family. Elaine enjoyed entertaining and making treats for family and friends, cooking, embroidery, bird watching, but her main focus was spending time with her grandchildren.

Elaine is survived by two daughters, Sylvian Steffensmeier and husband, Loren of Nicollet, Robin Freyberg and husband, James of Mankato; daughter-in-law, Lori Hood of Lake Crystal; six grandchildren, Ryan Hood, Jacob Hood, Eric Hood, and Kelsey Hood, Julia (Michael) Lamon, and Kathryn Freyberg; three great-grandchildren, TJ Hood, Livia and Titus Lamon; sister, Violet Louris of Edina; two sisters-in-law, Vivian Thomas of Lake Crystal and Donna Hood of Lakeville; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph on September 26, 2006; son, Thomas Hood on October 21, 2007; infant son; four brothers, William Thomas, Robert Thomas, Reese Thomas, Burton “Dick”(Myrna) Thomas; sister, Margaret (Anton) Olson.
