John Maurice Dickie, Sr., 94 of Mankato, died Saturday, February 13, 2015 at Brookdale Senior Living in Mankato.
Funeral service will be 11am, Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Mankato Mortuary (1001 N. Riverfront Drive, Mankato, MN 56001) with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Savidge Lake Cemetery in Cleveland, MN.
John “Maurice” was born December 12, 1921 in Cleveland, MN to Charles and Florence (Davis) Dickie. As a child, Maurice worked around the clock on the farm and raised Belgium horses. In 1944, he was united in marriage to Delores Marie Hutter. Maurice worked at the foundry in St. Peter for over ten years.
Maurice was still very eager to continue learning about nature, animals, and other countries from watching documentaries on the computer. Maurice was an avid and witty story teller. He could entertain for hours with his stories and sayings from his past.
Survivors include his children, Beverly Richardson of Duluth, John Dickie of Le Center, and Donald (Debra) Dickie of Eagle Lake; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Delores in 1984; sons, Dennis in 2008 and Richard in 2012; brothers, Russel, Merlin, Harold, and Gordon Dickie.
