Kimberly Renae Wahlstrom, age 42, of Mankato, died Monday, February 8, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Health System – Mankato.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Paul Nolting officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be in Trinity Cemetery in Canby.  Memorials are preferred to the Special Olympics or Prairie’s Edge (Harry Meyering Center).  Mankato Mortuary handled the arrangements.

Kimberly was born September 9, 1973, in Mankato to Glen and Karen (Dumke) Wahlstrom.  She attended Life Skill Classes at Mankato East High School.  Kimberly was employed with MRCI.  She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato.  Kimberly participated in the Special Olympics.  She was a former 4-H member and showed animals at the Minnesota State Fair.  Kimberly enjoyed music, movies, attending the Fall Elegance dance sponsored by LEEP, visiting with family during holidays and vacations, going out to eat with family and staff, riding on the family’s pontoon at their lake home, and watching her nephews and nieces.

Kimberly is survived by her mother, Karen (Murel) Backman of Pine River; sister, Dawn (Jonathan) Clobes of Good Thunder; nephews and nieces, Nathan, Joshua, Abigail, David, Hannah, and Andrew Clobes; uncle and aunts, Allen (Anita) Dumke of Ashby, Ruth Wahlstrom of Tiffin, OH, and Nellie Wahlstrom of Canby; and also cousins, Stuart (Luisa) Wahlstrom, Stacey Wahlstrom, Trent Dumke, Christa Dumke, and Mike (Johanna) Traylor.

She was preceded in death by her father and brother, Todd.
