Robert “Bob” Hodapp, age 83, of Owatonna and Madison Lake, MN, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, February 6, 2016.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday, February 12, 2016, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2016, from 4 - 7 p.m. at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive in North Mankato and will continue one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Burial with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato.

Robert was born on April 11, 1932 in Mankato to Robert and Leone (Kohler) Hodapp. He attended and graduated from Loyola High School in 1949. While attending Mankato State University, he joined the Naval Reserves in 1950 and was called to active duty with the US Navy in 1952. Bob received the National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged in 1954. He returned to Mankato and completed his education at Mankato State obtaining a degree in business. While employed with Federated Insurance of Owatonna for 39 years, his duties provided the opportunity to travel throughout the US & Canada; retiring in 1995 at Owatonna. He was an active member of the Owatonna American Legion and Am Vets.

For 38 years, Bob traveled with his parents on a summer fishing adventure to Lake of the Woods in Canada. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards of all kinds, but most of all spending time at the cabin on Duck Lake in Madison Lake surrounded by family and dear friends. The cabin was built in 1945 by Robert and fellow firefighters on their off duty time from the Mankato Fire Station and was transported piece by piece where it was rebuilt on Duck Lake, making it the 12th cabin on the lake.

Bob is survived by cousins and MANY SPECIAL FRIENDS! He was preceded in death by his parents; aunt Lucille Kohler; and aunts and uncles Zita and Don Lynch, Helen and Paul Lamm, Leon “Bud” and Bernice Hodapp, Clem and Beata Hodapp.
