Joan A Turtle

MANKATO – Rural Mankato resident Joan A. Turtle, 80, died Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Harmony River in Hutchinson, MN.

Service will be on Saturday, February 6 at 11:00 am at Calvary Lutheran Church, Rapidan, with Pastor Suzanne Froelich officiating. Burial is at Calvary Cemetery, Rapidan. Visitation is 1 hour before service from 10 am - 11:00 am.

Joan Turtle was born Oct. 6, 1935 to Russell and Ruth Jovagg in Mankato, MN. She graduated from Mankato West High School and attended college in St. Louis. She married John Turtle on April 6, 1956 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mankato. She was a stay at home mother and also helped John with the TV business answering phones and doing accounting for over 30 years. She then went back to school at age 50 as a graphic designer and took a job at Carlson Craft in Mankato. She has been a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and was an organist there for over 45 years, choir director, Sunday school teacher and various church committees. Joan had many interests and hobbies that included painting, sewing and many craft projects, gardening, traveling, teaching piano and riding with John on their motorcycle.

Joan is survived by her two daughters, Patti (Rick Boser) Turtle-Boser of Minnetrista and Vicki (Tim) Overas of Florida; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Judy (Bernie) Koenigs.
