The Community mourns the loss of Charles and Kimberly Hernandez of Good Thunder, MN on January 29, 2016.
A Celebration of Kim and Chuck’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 4, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Church, Mapleton, Minnesota with Pastor Vicki Hultine, officiating. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Church, Mapleton and will continue one hour before the service on Thursday. Interment will be in Barnard’s Valley View Cemetery, rural Good Thunder. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to a memorial fund to benefit Kali and Hailee, set up at Pioneer Bank, 301 Main St. NE, PO Box 306, Mapleton, MN 56065.
Kimberly Kay Luhring was born February 17, 1967 to parents William and Sharon (Keys) Luhring of Good Thunder, MN.
Charles “Chuck” Armando Hernandez Jr. was born on July 14, 1955 to parents Charles and Lea (Miranda) Hernandez of Long Beach, CA.
Chuck met Kim soon after moving to Good Thunder and the two of them were united in marriage on February 24, 1990, at St. John Lutheran Church of Mapleton. Together they had two daughters; Kalista (25) and Hailee (21). Chuck worked for Protein Sources for 20 years in animal husbandry as a farm manager.
Kim worked several years for Southeastern Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Associates of Mankato, also for Scheel’s All Sports. An active and valued figure in her community, Kim took pride in her involvement with the Good Thunder City Council, Kim was also a breast cancer advocate, participating in many Susan G. Koman walks and fundraising events. She enjoyed walks, gardening and canning, four-wheeling and spending time with loved ones. She had a love of country music and was even a member of the George Strait Fan Club. Kim will be remembered for her kindness, her sense of humor and her love of life.
Chuck will be remembered for cracking jokes and his contagious grin. He loved four-wheeling, fishing and watching baseball. Chuck enjoyed spending time at home with his family, cooking, and mowing the lawn. As a manager, he did all he could to make work fun and was respected by his peers.
Chuck and Kim were exceptional parents and took great pride in their two daughters. They leave behind nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles that were a very important part of their lives. They also leave many friends and coworkers who will miss them dearly.
Chuck and Kim are survived by their two daughters, Kali Hernandez and her fiancé, Brian Engles of Lake Crystal, Hailee Hernandez and special friend, Davantay Corey of Good Thunder.
Chuck is survived by his mother, Lea (Kent) Little of Good Thunder; sisters, Tami (Terry) Peters of Good Thunder, Shelley (Carlos) Lopez of Colorado; half-brother, Joe (Laura) Little of Rochester; stepbrother, Brent (Janet) Hernandez of California; stepmother, Phyllis Hernandez of California. Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Charles Hernandez Sr.
Kim is survived by her father, William G. Luhring of Good Thunder; brother, William D. Luhring of Blue Earth. Kim was preceded in death by her mother, Sharon Luhring.
