Gertrude E. Wigley, age 86, of Mankato and formerly of Lake Crystal, died Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Oaklawn Health Care Center, Mankato.

Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato. Visitation will be held from 9-10:30 a.m., Saturday at Northview. Interment will be in Minneopa Cemetery, rural Mankato, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Gertrude was born March 10, 1929 to Leo and Alice (Thomas) Williams in New Ulm, Minnesota. She graduated from New Ulm High School in 1948. Gert was united in marriage to Edward Wigley on November 1, 1958 at the Cambria Presbyterian Church. Gert was a homemaker for her family and helped on the farm. She was a past member of Carmel Presbyterian Church, rural Lake Crystal. Gert was a current member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Crystal where she was a past Deacon, a member of the Ruth Circle Bible Study, and member of the Women’s Association. Gert enjoyed gardening, sewing, canning, and hardanger. She especially enjoyed time spent with her husband, Ed and their 1966 Mustang Convertible.

Gert is survived by her husband, Ed of Mankato; daughter, Lori Attenberger and her husband, Jerry of St. Peter; granddaughter, Amanda Sorell and fiancé, Chad Hewitt of North Mankato; great-grandson, Cameron Hewitt; sister, Myrna Manti of Owatonna; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Miriam and Herb Jones of Lake Crystal; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Gert was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ronald in 1975; two brothers, Ronald Williams and David Williams; sister, Gladys Williams; brother-in-law, Floyd Manti; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dick and Fran Wigley.
