Dawn Lee Dietz, 60 of Mapleton, died Sunday, January 17, 2016 at her home.
Visitation will be held from 4-7pm, Thursday, January 21, 2016 at United Church of Mapleton (201 Troendle Street SW, Mapleton). Memorial service will be 11am, Friday, January 22 at church with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Ashley Whitaker will officiate. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Maple River Youth Center or United Church of Mapleton. Olson-Tichenor Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dawn was born December 22, 1955 in Wells, MN to Myrl and Lana (Drewes) Dietz. She graduated from Mapleton High School in 1974 and studied Produce and Supermarket Management at Pipestone Vo-Tec. Dawn was currently the produce and frozen food manager at Dietz Foods. Many enjoyed her fresh homemade donuts every Saturday.
Dawn loved mentoring kids and was a treasurer and volunteer at the Maple River Youth Center. She was also an active member of United Church of Mapleton and served in many capacities, including deacon, women’s fellowship, sound tech, choir member, and various committees. She was also crafty and loved to crochet, knit, paint, and work with stained glass
Survivors include her siblings, Dick Dietz of Mankato, Nancy (Brian Dirks) Dietz of Baxter, and Mary (Elias) Alvarado of Mankato; nieces and nephews, Dylan Dietz, Kelsey Dietz, Alex Dirks, Adam Dirks, Jeremiah Denzer, and Jasmine Denzer; great-niece, Skylana Denzer; Cindy and Dale Wishart of Mapleton; aunts, Mildred Gemmill, Ramona Dietz and Marilyn Howell; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Larry Dietz.
