James Herbert Barth, age 75, of North Mankato, died Sunday, January 10, 2016, surrounded by his loving family at his home.

Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 14, 2016, at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary.  Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Northview, and continues one hour prior to the service on Thursday.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Jim was born October 24, 1940, in Charles City, IA.  He was the son of Gale and Thelma (Waid) Barth.  Jim was a 1958 graduate of Greene High School in Greene, IA.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 until 1965.  Following his discharge, Jim attended and graduated from Upper Iowa University.  He was united in marriage to Beverly Goetz on October 14, 1972, in Hutchinson.  Jim retired from Honeymead in Mankato after 30 years of employment.  He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and the American Legion.  Jim enjoyed drag racing in the 1960’s, trap shooting, snowmobiling, fishing, attending gun shows, watching the Happy Chef fast pitch softball team, and taking leisurely drives through the countryside.

Jim is survived by his wife, Beverly of North Mankato; daughter, Lori (Brian) Lane of Buffalo; son, Jeff (Angie) Barth of Hayfield; six grandchildren, Zac, Abby, Michael, Alexis, Bailey, and Chloe; one brother, Dan (Marj) Barth of Charles City, IA; also nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary.
