Richard W. Moore, 86, of Mankato died Friday, January 8, 2016 at Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.
Services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Hosanna Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Woodland Hills Cemetery.
Dick was born March 13, 1929 to George and Velma (Garnes) Moore in Boone, IA. On November 23, 1952 he married Carol Purdy. Together they raised 6 children, Bruce, Richard, Steve, Kevin, Wendy, and Karen. Dick served in the United Stated Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Bremerton Naval Ship Yard in Bremerton, WA. He is also a member of Hosanna Lutheran Church. Dick was known to be an inventor and a Jack of all trades. He enjoyed fixing things around the house and was always willing to help anyone. Dick enjoyed volunteering and was a city council member in Waldorf.
Dick is survived by his wife, Carol of 63 years; children, Bruce (Michelle) Moore of Albert Lea, MN, Richard (Janie) Moore of Albuquerque, NM, Steve (Theresa Ives) Moore of Lake Bay, WA, Kevin Moore of Mankato, Wendy (Robert) Holmes of Waldorf, MN, and Karen (Brian Reed) Johnson of Mankato; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Beenken, Georgia Wilson, Florence Grams, Joyce Possin; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen Latzke; and 2 brothers-in-law, Art and Vernon.
