Earl Duane Preston, 88 of Mapleton, died Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.
Memorial service will be 11am, Wednesday, December 30 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton with visitation starting at 9:30am. Reverend Vicki Hultine will officiate. Burial will follow at Medo McPherson Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials are preferred to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Earl was born November 23, 1927 in McPherson Township to Ralph and Elenora (Albrecht) Preston. He graduated from Pemberton High School in 1945 and studied Agriculture for one year. Earl was inducted into the U.S. Army on October 25, 1950 and served in Germany until being honorably discharged in 1952. Earl was a hardworking farmer, a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton, and VFW Post 5338. He enjoyed going for walks and traveling.
He is survived by his nephews and niece, Gary (Julie) Preston of Forest Lake, Joel (Phyllis) Preston of St. Clair, James (Karen) Preston of Rochester, John (Karen Morris) Preston of Janesville, Peter (Jobi) Preston of Janesville, Miles Preston of North Mankato, Norman (Koni) Preston of Mapleton, Steve Preston of Eagan, and Karen (Bob) Rezin of Tomah, WI; sisters-in-law, Patricia Keller and Dorris Preston; many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Glenn and Marvin Preston.
Olson-Tichenor Funeral Home in Mapleton is assisting the family with arrangements.
