Clarice Adell Dinesen, age 95, of Mankato died Friday, December 25, 2015, at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 31, 2015, at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato, with Rev. Greg Lenz, officiating. Private family interment will be in Antrim Cemetery, rural Truman. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday at Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service on Thursday. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.
Clarice was born July 18, 1920 to Milton and Myrtle (Dunlavey) Hammond on the family farm in rural Truman, MN. She graduated from Truman High School in 1938 and from the University of Minnesota in 1942 with a degree in Home Economics. Clarice was united in marriage to Harald L. “Doc” Dinesen on December 30, 1942 in Truman. She taught Home Economics in Fulda, MN for two years before they moved to Lansing, Michigan while Harald was in veterinarian school at Michigan State. They returned to Minnesota where Harald was a veterinarian in Janesville for ten years. The family moved to Salem, Oregon where Harald worked as a veterinarian for the state of Oregon before they returned to Minnesota, settling in Mankato in 1956. Clarice taught Home Economics in Waterville for many years. Clarice was a member of the 1st Christian Church, now Resurrection Lutheran Church in Mankato. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Home Ec. Club, and Bible Study. She loved reading, sewing, entertaining and cooking, fishing, spending time at the family cabin, and her cats.
Clarice is survived by her son, James (Cathy) Dinesen of Leawood, Kansas and their children, Erika Dinesen (Ryan Moore) and Christopher Dinesen; daughter-in-law, Linda Dinesen of Janesville and her children, Wendy Dinesen (Stacey Busswitz), Nicholas Dinesen, and Bobbi Jo Dinesen (Andy Miskowic); two great-grandchildren, Spencer Miskowic and Drew Busswitz; several nieces and nephews; and her cats, Baby Buddy and Mickey.
Clarice was preceded in death by her husband, Harald L. “Doc” Dinesen on October 16, 2011; son, Robert on May 7, 2015; two brothers, Tom Hammond and Willis Hammond; sister, Nellie Clemens.
