Ruth White

Ruth I. White, 96, of Mankato died Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Laurels Peak Rehabilitation Center in Mankato, MN

Services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Mankato Mortuary, 1001 North Riverfront Dr., Mankato, MN, 56001 with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.

Ruth was born July 9, 1919 to Frank and Blanche (Elliot) Miller in Northfield, MN. She graduated from Northfield High School in 1937 and continued on to the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. On April 4, 1942 she married Weston C. White. Ruth worked as an office administrator for school district 77. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Mankato and was the moderator of the “Presbyterian Women” for many years. She was also the secretary and treasurer for the Evening Circle. She was very active with Solo Parents serving as national secretary/treasurer for many years and was awarded National Solo Parent of the year.  In her free time Ruth enjoyed fishing, watching baseball, playing cards, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Frank White of Mankato and Jeff (Sandra) White of St. Cloud; grandchildren Sarah, Brooke (Troy), Weston, and Mary (Brian); and 7 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Weston in 1972; and sisters, Martha and Marion.
